The Science
Drawing on lived experience, client insights, and collaborating with experts around the world, MBL has developed a powerful, strengths-based delivery, designed to support meaningful, and lasting change.
The work conducted by MBL is steeped in science.
MBL Founder, Karelynne Randall has spent many years working closely with internationally renowned researchers in Neuroscience and Psychology, to understand the impact of life experiences on human behaviours.
MBL harnesses the research, knowledge and expertise of leading-edge practitioners, using evidence-based theories and strength-based strategies, to benefit client transformation.
Significant Emotional Events S.E.E
Not so well known, is the lasting impact of Significant Emotional Events (S.E.E.) pioneered by Sociologist, Professor Morris Massey.
How we use the S.E.E theory in our work
To recall and acknowledge the impression, influence, or impact of significant life events at any age or stage in life, is foundational to understanding how our values – ‘feelings, attitudes and beliefs’ are formed in those moments, and how they are embedded in our neurology.
The empowerment of exploring S.E.E. is that your newfound awareness facilitates becoming discerning about whether certain feelings, attitudes and beliefs are helpful, or no longer productive.
Your power is in discernment.
Your strength is in response-ability.
Your freedom towards wellbeing, is in choice.
Adverse Childhood/Life Experiences (ACEs) and Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs)
Evidenced by Dr Vincent Felitti. MD, is how Adverse Childhood/Life Experiences (ACEs) and Positive Childhood/Life Experiences (PCEs), form neurological pathways in response to both ACEs and PCEs.
Dr. Felitti’s work affirms that everyone has, or will experience interruptive, intrusive or traumatic ‘adverse events’ in life; either as a child (prenatal -0-18yrs) or throughout life, with everyone having an individual response.
This theory identifies how negative experiences can entrench unhelpful, even harmful, subconscious, behavioural patterns that impact our lives. In Dr Felitti’s study, The CDC-Kaiser Permanent ACEs Study (1998), a direct link was found between childhood trauma and adult onset of chronic disease, addiction, incarceration, and employment challenges.
When ACEs are acknowledged they can be the catalyst for a breakthrough to greater understanding (and control) over ‘why you are who you are, and empowering how you choose to be’, motivating a new and achievable positive outlook, renewed purpose and potential.
Identifying Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) is crucial to recognising how our positive core values may have unknowingly propelled us forward, even in the face of overwhelming challenges.
Acknowledgment and focus upon the influence of PCEs can be the foundation upon which we thrive.
How we use the ACE and PCEs theories in our work
MBL acknowledges Prof. Morris Massey’s sociological concept of values formation, as originating from ‘Significant Emotional Experiences’ (S.E.E), and the ground-breaking research of Dr. Vincent J. Felitti MD, FACP The Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) The Kaiser Permanente Study – Centre for Disease Control, USA.
Within our pioneering Signature Strengths® program, clients are supported to express challenges and invited on a Timeline Journey™, to identify strengths as positive, transferable values.
To support understanding of values formation, both the ACEs and PCEs questionnaires are offered to help clients strengthen their resolve to take charge and move beyond remaining in effect of unhelpful values (feeling, attitudes and beliefs), unknowingly formed during adverse life experiences.
When we understand how ACEs and PCEs shape development, we unlock the potential to heal, grow, and thrive—not only as individuals, the effect permeates throughout families and communities. As pioneers like Dr. Vincent Felitti – MD and Dr. Brian Alman – PhD., have shown, awareness and productive action can lead to transformation for lasting well-being and achievement.
“Your individuality evolves from both adverse, positive, childhood and all of life experiences (ACEs and PCEs). You can express your vulnerabilities, and honour your unique perspectives, gifts and talents.” Dr. Brian Alman. PhD.
Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) are what MBL identifies as your Signature Strengths®.
They are the positive core values (present prior to interruptive, invasive, and/or traumatic events) that sustain life despite challenges, and by choice they can be the reason you thrive!
MBL applies personalised Questions To Customise Results (QTCR), and if by client choice, the results of both the ACEs and PCEs questionnaires within our own pioneering program Signature Strengths® These tools help clients communicate more comfortably, and strengthen resolve, taking charge to move beyond remaining in effect of unhelpful values (feeling. attitudes and beliefs), unknowingly formed during adverse life experiences.
Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP)
“Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) may be the most powerful communication style for change, in existence!”
— Modern Psychology
When working with you, or your organisation MBL incorporates the leading-edge strategies of Neurolinguistic Programming because we recognise NLP as a powerful communication tool, that helps individuals break through unhelpful psychological patterns and emotional barriers, to reframe thinking, and create lasting behavioural change.
Our limitations often live in our subconscious. NLP helps rewire those mental barriers so we can move beyond them. We frame NLP as a “thought rewiring system” that helps clients gain self-understanding, and strengthen response-ability, to move beyond limitations in both life and work.
How we use NLP in our work
NLP is the science of how language, thoughts, and behaviours shape our reality and how we can reframe and reprogram all this, for our success.
At MBL we utilise NLP because it helps create genuine rapport, encouraging ease of communication, and agency for ownership of client outcomes.
Integrating NLP fosters meaningful, and effective client interactions, and as a practical tool helps clients:
- Recognise unconscious emotional triggers and navigate change for strategic growth.
- Develop empowering habits and effective communication patterns.
- Strengthen mindset for long-term success.
